RT Dissertation/Thesis T1 Interdisciplinary insights into industrial fisheries’ adaptation to climate change T2 Perspectivas interdisciplinares sobre a adaptación da pesca industrial ao cambio climático A1 Rubio Benito Del Valle, Iratxe K1 2505.03 Geografía de Los Recursos Naturales K1 5312.01 Agricultura, Silvicultura, Pesca K1 2502 Climatología AB The overall objective of the PhD proposal is to study current and future adaptation to climate change in an international fishery. International fisheries are impacted by climate change due to changes in species distribution, affecting fishing agreements that regulate access to the resource. However, little is known about the implications of climate change on the fisheries social-ecological system (SES), or how the system can better adapt. In order to understand adaptation in international fisheries, a traditional and profitable fishery targeting highly migratory species has been selected: the Basque industrial tropical tuna fishery. Shifts in tropical tunas distribution will be targeted as the main climate change impact in the fishery, while stakeholder perceptions on adaptation measures to these changes will inform future necessary arrangements.
