AB Characteristics and evolution of the Galician fishing fleet operating in the Celtic Sea are reviewed in a context of Spanish regulation and successive reforms of the European Common Fisheries Policy. This paper analyses the most significant aspects of fishing management that have affected this fleet's activity while linking the institutional framework to strategies and results of Galician fishing in these European waters and also identifying the fishery's greatest management challenges. Finally, we examine stakeholders' perceptions of the most relevant changes resulting from EU fishery reforms.
